The Wall Street Journal's Top Movie Attraction For 2008: Iron Man!

Technically, "Iron Man" is a Black Sabbath song. Ozzy may have re-released as a solo artist too, but he did that with several Black Sabbath songs.

I was a little leery at first about Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man too. After seeing the trailer though and remembering how brilliant of an actor he is (not to mention he freakin' looks like Tony Stark) I think RDJ is cast perfectly. Remember when Michael Keaton was cast as Batman? Everybody thought that was ridiculous. He did a damn good job tho' (especially if you compare his performance to that of Val Kilmer or--God forbid--George Clooney).

The best part of Batman Begins was Scarecrow. The Batmobile was awful and some of the back story was incredulous, but overall, it was closer to the comics than any of the other Batman incarnations (i.e. the 60s TV series or the Tim Burton films).

Kirsten being cast as MJ is fitting if, even if simply because of Toby Maguire being cast as Spidey. (By the way, I think Toby was cast perfectly.) Nikki Cox would have been a fitting comic book MJ but:
#1 acting is not exacting her strong point
#2 she would have been a distraction and wouldn't have looked right with Toby as Peter Parker.

Superman Returns was good and effective at reestablishing just how awesome Superman is. (The scene that sticks out is the bullet hitting the eye.) It also showed how Superman recoups his prowess from the Sun, which I don't recall really being delved into before. The kid thing was absolutely ridiculous unless we are to believe the kid was conceived when Superman relinquished his powers to be human and to be with Lois in Superman III I believe. There's simply no way Superman could have sex with a human woman without blowing her uterus to Krypton upon ejaculation. Also, why not make it real-time in the amount of time he's been gone? Why only 5 years? This movie did owe alot to the original films though. Except for the scene where Clark is in the bar drinking and then he changes to Mr. S to help Lois. I did think Christopher Reeve ever drank and flew. lol

We're all glad your mother taught you how to read @ home schooling. If I build a birdhouse does that make me a carpenter? If you read ONE batman comic at B&N while your mommy was shopping, does that make you a batman expert? Batman started as a quick story in Detective Comics #27 that caught fame like a fire in California. In those comics he had a gun and shot at people. His Batmobile wasn't anything like it was today. His training actually did come from martial arts and ninjitsu, so boo for you on trying to call that out. Christopher Nolen knew that if he tried too hard to make it like the comics, the entire community would break his front door down with complaints that it wasn't close enough (like you are) so he changed it to flow with what he felt was a palpable Batman in this day and age. If you don't like it, go back to TV land with Adam West (no offense West, Love Your Show Man) with tight tights. The new ride is AMAZING, it's about time someone had the guts to change a few things around because lets face it. Anyone but Michael Keaton's ride was a floppy winged almost satirical version of the batmobile. So few kids this day and age have seen the old school batman that someone had to update them. So he changed the story around, who cares? Havn't you seen the shape of Hollywood today? BTW, you totally lose all the points you've ever accumulated in life for saying Superman Returns was good. Christian Bale plays a GREAT batman. Hugh Jackman plays a GREAT wolverine. Thomas Jane plays an AMAZING punisher. I do hope Ben Aflec trips over his cane as daredevil, but we can't win them all. I understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinions (GB America) but your internet privileges should be revoked.

Batman begins raped. The ninja part was awesome. Explained how a millionare could randomly get some gadgets and karate everyone's ass beter than the comics did. Spiderman rocked. Kirsten Dunst did well in that role. X-Men was pretty good, had some sweet action. #16 was totally right. "bottom line is what looks cool in comics dont always work in real life"

Downy is the absolute perfect actor for Tony Stark and to all the idiots who think the voice at the end is Iron Man's voice.

Batman has been recreated and remade so many times..It's hard to keep track of how many different Dark Knights there have been throughout the years and the director can make another change just like everyone else has in history so stop ur complaining.

Iron-Man looks sweet, they did robo cop in the 80s and at it looked good for the time so this should look mind blowing. im glad its not all CG and herd there is at least 5 different armors in the movie.

as for batman looks great, still dark as hell.

and i agree that x-man 3 was horrible and even worse then supper-man. super-man had good acting but worse plot ever.
in X-man the whole plot was "lets see how many power/mutants we can have" same with spider-man 3, horrible movies. ghost rider made me want to fly to hollywood and kill some eva and cage.they made ghost rider sound like he had down syndrome.

the problem is the writing, not the acting. its the 90s all over again. remember wat happened to batman then, now they r doing it with all our favs. first movie is good, second is better. then garbage, they just try to use special effects and squeeze out as much money as possible.
